CURRICULUM - 4th GRADE
   
Language Arts
Reading Notes
Writing Notes
Students will develop their writing by engaging in the
writing process. They will learn to apply their writing
skills to create and produce compositions that reflect
student development.

Math
Our
goal is to teach basic math skills and how to use them in
problem-solving situations. Skills covered in fourth grade
include the following:
1.
multiplication and division of whole numbers
2.
addition and subtraction of fractions with like
denominators
3.
addition and subtraction of decimals
4.
geometry
5.
measurement
6.
probability
We use
many different tools to meet the objectives mentioned above.

Science
Our
program goal in science is to prepare students according to
the Ohio Department of Education Science Content Standards.
Through these standards, the students will complete work in
the following areas of science:
1.
earth and space science
2.
physical science
3.
life science
4.
science and technology
5.
scientific ways of knowing
6.
scientific inquiry
We
encourage problem-solving and higher level thinking in all
strand areas.
Our
science program also incorporates a health program, which
covers topics such as personal hygiene, communicable vs.
noncommunicable diseases, first-aid and safety, and nutrition. We want
students to possess life-long health habits that promote
safety and good health.

Social Studies
Fourth grade social studies focuses on the state of Ohio.
Students learn about the geography, history, government, and
economy of their state. They learn about issues and ways
that citizens participate in Ohio’s government. Students
develop their research skills by obtaining information from
multiple sources.
