6th GRADE

Welcome To Sixth Grade

We hope you will find the following information useful:

School Day:  Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to begin class by 7:45 am.  Dismissal will be at 2:30.   Walkers and those being picked up will be dismissed through the Middle School Front doors.   Teachers will provide a copy of their schedules the first week of school.  Transportation information will be provided by the school.

Discipline: Our overall school goals are to increase student achievement, self-discipline, and individual responsibility.  In order to achieve these goals all students need to follow the rules in all areas of the building throughout the school day.  Please review the 6th grade discipline policy, sign, and return to school.

Homework: Homework completion is not an option.  All students are required to complete their homework and return it by the due date.  Homework will be included in the subject’s final grade; therefore late and missing homework will adversely impact grades.

Cell Phones:  Cell phones are not permitted in classrooms.  If a cell phone is found in the class it will be confiscated and parents will need to arrange a time to pick it up from the office.

Text Books:  Students will be issued text books on the first day of school.  Text books can be brought home for homework assignments and test preparation.  All text books must be covered the first week of school.

Cursive Writing:  All hand-written assignments must be completed in cursive writing, unless specifically noted by the teacher.

Lockers:  Please keep lockers neat and organized.  Do not give locker combinations to friends.  Lockers can be inspected at any time and each student will be held accountable for their locker.

Communication:  Sixth graders should be prepared to discuss problems or concerns with their teachers.  We expect students to take responsibility for their work and actions.  Should a concern or question arise that you feel would best be handled by you, the parent, please contact us via school email.

   Mrs. Delamater: ddelamater@berlin-milan.org

Band:  Sixth graders taking band will need to drop their instruments off in the band room daily.  Instruments should be picked up at the end of the day.

Lunch Money: School lunch prices have increased.  A full lunch can be purchased for $2.00 and milk can be purchased for $0.50.  Please continue to put lunch money in an envelope marked with the student’s name and homeroom.  It is best to have lunch money in on Monday, but we know that this may not always be possible.

Breakfast:  Breakfast can be purchased in the morning for $1.50

We look forward to a great year!
