KINDERGARTEN

A feast!
Our
annual Thanksgiving feast was held on Monday, November 23rd.
Each year we discuss the similarities and differences
between the first Thanksgiving and our modern day
celebration. We then have students recreate the first
Thanksgiving feast. Each child brings in a portion of food
to share with his/her classmates that day. The food is
similar to things the Pilgrims and Indians ate at their
feast. This year to correlate with our science curriculum,
the students each provided a food from their assigned food
group. What a fun way to share a balanced Thanksgiving meal!

Centers
Students enjoy playing at Center Time. This
is a great time for students to interact with their
classmates in a positive way, while exploring our different
learning centers. Some of our centers include the Block
Center, the Dress Up Center, the Writing Center, and the
Reading Center.

Muffins with Mom
Kindergarteners enjoyed
our Muffins with Mom day. We read stories about Muffins and
did some Muffin Math. For a special treat during snack, we
got to try some Muffins!

During Fire Safety
Week, our kindergarteners got to go for a ride the old
fashioned fire truck. We took a ride up to the fire station
and learned about fire safety from our local firefighters.
Thank you Berlin Heights Fire Department for a fun ride!

Walk for
Wellness
Our kindergarteners got
to go on a Walk for Wellness this year. We took a walk
around the school building with the 6th grade
cheerleaders and football players. During our walk we got to
learn cheers and did some Charger Jacks! Go Edison!

Animal Bags
Each year in Science, the Kindergarteners learn about
animals. As a fun culmination to our unit, the students
create an animal bag to share with the class. They each
share what kinds of foods their animals eat, where they
live, and special features they have that help them
survive! Thank you parents for all of your help!

The First Day of
Kindergarten
On the first
day if Kindergarten we read “The Kissing Hand.” It was a
story about a raccoon that was nervous about going to
school. We made a special Kissing Hand treat for us to eat
and a Kissing Hand picture to take home to our parents!

The Gingerbread Man
We read the
story of the Gingerbread Man, but when we went to eat him
for our snack, he had run away! We had to search around the
school to try and find him! Luckily we had many school
helpers who led us to our yummy Gingerbread Man who had been
sent to Mrs. Miller’s office!

Nursery Rhyme Day
We
learned a new nursery rhyme! It was “Little Miss Muffet.”
We made our own spider puppet and got to act out the
rhyme! We also made a yummy spider for our snack!
