7th Grade Applied
Technology
The grade
6 Applied Technology class has been designed to offer
students an exploration of the many new technologies that
affect our daily lives. These include, Biotechnology, Laser,
Robotics, Video production, Digital music (midi),
Electronics, Land Transportation, Digital Photography,
Satellite, Materials Processing, AutoCad, 3-D Modeling,
Desktop Publishing and Computer Graphics.
There are
fourteen learning stations (modules) set up in the lab.
Students usually have a partner to work with when completing
the self-directed activities. each module last 10 days. The
students will have a different partner for each rotation.
The selection of a partner was done using scheduling
software. Activity modules allow students to interact with
audio, video, computer- controlled machines and other
"high-tech" equipment. Software programs used include,
AutoDesk AutoCad LT, AutoDesk 3-D Modeling, Adobe Photoshop
LE, Adobe Pagemaker, and Music Write 2000.
Students
will have the opportunity to handle high tech equipment,
such as computers, helium-neon lasers, satellite dish and
receiver, non-linear digital video editing equipment,
digital video camera, digital still camera, TeachMover
robotic arm, and midi keyboard.
