Girl's Golf: 5th Place at STATE-Great Job Ladies!!!

Girl's Cross Country: SBC CHAMPIONS!!!
The girls’ team continued the momentum by earning the second conference championship of the day with a score of 27 points which was well ahead of 2nd place Oak Harbor who had 63. The Chargers placed our top five runners in the top 10, and was led by Abbi Plunkett who added another championship when she placed first overall in the girls’ race with a time of 20:08.  Alyssa Robinson followed with 3rd place and Sarah Rospert placed 5th.  Abbi, Alyssa, and Sarah all earned 1st team SBC Honors.  Remi Hoffman, and Sarah Wallace, finished 8th and 10th which earned them 2nd team SBC Honors.  Casey Flannery took 15th, and Lauren Dunnavant ran her best time of the year to place 16th.  Congratulations to both teams.  All of your hard work got you this far now we need to set our sights on our district meet next Saturday in Galion.

Boy's Cross Country: SBC CHAMPIONS!!!
The Sunday headlines read: Sandusky Bay Sweep.  The Edison boys’ and girls’ cross country teams earned their first-ever double conference championship.  The boys’ started the day with a two point victory over Clyde which ended their streak of many 2nd place finishes.  Homecoming King Tim Majoy led the team with 3rd place earning him 1st team SBC Honors. Weston Strayer and Oggie Moss followed with 5th and 6th places both earning 1st Team SBC Honors.  Steve Salmons placed 17th and running the race of the day was Coltyn Grant who improved his time by 30 seconds clinching the championship for the team by placing 19th.

Varsity Football:
The varsity football team cruised to a Homecoming victory over the Oak Harbor Rockets by a score of 55-8.  The Chargers scored 42 first-half points in playing their most impressive game of the season.  Offensively, Ryan Neuberger, Zach Yovanov, Dylan Howard, and Tim Archer each scored a touchdown while both Chris Roberts and Brady Gelvin each scored twice.  Defensively, the Chargers were led by a tough defensive line made up of Craig Ritz, Chris Roberts, Nick Gilliam, Eric Boyce, Kyle Cory and Ryan Gorsuch.  Linebackers Kyle Matula and Travis Lombardi and the secondary of Ryan Neuberger, Stefan Taylor, Ryan Tiura and Brandon Tomson all played well in the win.  The team and coaches would like to thank the students for their support at the game.  The team is in action again this Friday at Margaretta.

Freshmen Football:
The freshman football team lost to Oak Harbor on Saturday 48-6.  Scoring the Chargers only touchdown was Tyler Majoy off the punishing blocks of the offensive line.  The team closes out the season this Saturday at home against Margaretta.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team completed their regular season by beating 25-14, 25-9, 25-8.  Cami Shine had 8 kills, 15 points, 5 aces, and 9 digs.  Whitney Smith had 10 points, 7 assists, 8 digs, and 3 kills.  Emily Stewart had 8 kills, 8 digs, and 9 points, Amanda Blodgett had 4 kills and 2 blocks, Zoe Gastier had 4 kills, 3 blocks, and 5 assists, Brittany Moyer had 16 assists, Abbey Cox had 3 kills and 5 blocks, Chelsea Frankboner had 2 kills, Rachel Ackerman had 6 digs, 2 points, and 2 aces, Megan Vaschak had 5 digs and 6 points, Erica Anderson had 9 digs, Aubrey Notestine had 1 kill, and Susan Knight scored 1 point.

JV Volleyball:  
The JV team ended a very successful season by beating the Panters 25-19, 25-18.  Susan Knight scored 12 points. 

Freshmen Volleyball:
The freshmen team fell to the Panthers 25-17, 28-26.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team seized sole possession of 2nd place in the SBC by beating Margaretta 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.  Whitney Smith had 12 points, 2 aces, 10 assists, 4 kills, and 10 digs.  Nicole Swartz had 4 points and 15 digs, and Megan Vaschak had 4 digs.  All 3 seniors were playing in their last regular season home game.  Other leaders were Emily Stewart with 12 kills and 12 digs, Cami Shine had 10 kills and 14 digs, Abbey Cox had 8 kills and 4 blocks, Amanda Blodgett had 6 kills, 7 points, and 2 aces, Zoe Gastier had 4 kills, 3 blocks, and 5 assists, Brittany Moyer had 5 points and 12 assists, and Rachel Ackerman had 3 digs. All 3 teams will play their last regular season home match tomorrow at St. Mary’s.

JV Volleyball:  
The JV team also beat the Polar Bears, winning a good 3 game match 24-26, 25-17, 25-18.  Taylor Matter led the team with 13 points, Susan Knight had 9 points, and Chelsea Frankboner added 6 points.

Freshmen Volleyball:
The Freshman team made it a clean sweep for the night, beating Margaretta 26-24, 25-20.  Morgan Price scored 9 points and Lauren Teed had 7 points.

Boy's Soccer:
The Edison Boys’ Varsity soccer team got a 6-1 victory at Margaretta in their final regular season match. The seniors and the reserve players started the match and played a strong first half. Senior Defender Logan Francisco opened the scoring playing as a forward striker.  The Chargers managed more offense in the second half getting a three goal effort from Sam Bores - including a goal scored directly off a corner kick - as well as goals from Jack Plunkett and from Scott McGuckin. Beau Busdicker and Brian Spence led the defensive effort for Edison. The Chargers next face Norwalk on October 16 in the opening game of the tournament.

JV Girl's Tennis:
The JV tennis team participated in the JV SBC Tournament last night.  All the ladies played great.  Hannah Burras had a bye in the 1st round, and then won in the 2nd round, advancing her to the championship match.  Under the lights she fell to a strong Clyde opponent placing her SBC JV 3rd singles runner-up.  Way to go Hannah!

Girl's Soccer:
The Lady Chargers soccer team played in Margaretta yesterday. Michelle Johnston scored the lone Charger goal on an assist from Samantha Seiling. The Bears won 5 to 1.

Girl's Cross Country:
The girls traveled to eastern Ohio to compete at the Legends meet and ran against some of the state’s top competition.  The team came in 4th overall and only eight points behind the 7th ranked team in the state.  Abbi Plunkett led the team by placing 5th overall and running a 19:56 which is her best time of the year.  Sarah Rospert followed with a 20:21 and 11th place.  Sarah Wallace dropped 34 seconds running her best time of 20:39.  Remi Hoffman finished 4th for the team with a 20:58.  Alyssa Robinson finished 28th, Casey Flannery took 32nd, and Lauren Dunnavant placed 45th.  Our B team finished 16th out of 20 teams and was led by Julia Danda who ran a 23:36.  Kristi Flesher had an outstanding day dropping 56 seconds to finish with a 23:39.  Molly Hohler improved by 14 seconds, Kim Schloesser improved by over a minute, and our best improvement of the day went to Jamie Mitchell who dropped three minutes off of her time.  Nice job ladies now get ready for the conference meet on Saturday.

Boy's Cross Country:
The Boys cross country team placed 7th out of 26 teams.  The Tim Majoy led the team with a 17:02 and a 9th place finish.  Oggie Moss stepped up and finished 29th with a 17:48.  Weston Strayer finished 49th, followed by Steve Salmons who took 52nd.  Coltyn Grant ran his best time of 18:41, and David Bender dropped 39 seconds to finish with an 18:48.  Cory Vanderbaan led the B team to a 23rd place finish with a time of 18:42.  Nathan Seamans broke into the 19’s by dropping 9 seconds from his best time.  Lucas Neumeyer also best his best time by 9 seconds.  Tyler Matter continued by best trend by dropping another 12 seconds.  Ryan Reber had a great day by dropping 58 seconds, and the best improvement of the day went to Ben Fagginato who dropped 3:00 to finish with a 23:22. Now get ready for the conference meet on Saturday.

The varsity volleyball team improved to 15-5 by beating Old Fort 25-18, 25-10, 25-13.  Emily Stewart had 15 kills, 12 digs, 10 points, and 4 aces.  Cami Shine had 11 kills and 8 digs, Amanda Blodgett had 3 kills and 4 blocks, Whitney Smith had 11 points, 2 aces, 3 kills, and 12 assists.  Brittany Moyer had 13 assists, Zoe Gastier had 7 assists and 5 blocks, Carmen Tinnel had 1 kill and 6 blocks, Nicole Swartz had8 points and 11 digs, Rachel Ackerman had 9 digs, Abbey Cox had 3 kills and 3 blocks, Chelsea Frankboner had 2 kills, 1 block and 3 digs, and Megan Vaschak had 2 digs.  The JV team was also victorious, winning 25-13, 25-21.   The teams play their final regular season home game on Tuesday against Margaretta.

Freshmen Football:
The freshmen football team played a great game on Saturday showing continued signs of improvement on both the offense and defense.  Even though the team lost 35-12 all members continue to work hard.  This Saturday the team travels to Oak Harbor for a 9:00 am kickoff.

Girl's Tennis:
The Lady Charger varsity tennis team ended their season yesterday at Sectionals.  Mallory Kiley and Danielle Rasey won their 1st match but fell to strong competition in the 2nd round.  Ashley Elber played great all day, advancing to the quarter-finals before falling to the #2 seeded player.  Way to go ladies!

Boy's Soccer:
The Edison Chargers dropped a close 2-1 match at home against Oak Harbor in Boys’ Varsity Soccer. Luke McCoy got a second half goal to tie the match 1-1 off a long cross over the Rocket defense delivered by Scott McGuckin. McCoy out raced a Rocket defender for the ball and fired a shot past the keeper. Oak Harbor got the winning goal off a free kick late in the match. The Chargers pressed hard to find an equalizer, but could not manage another score.

Girl's Tennis:
The Lady Chargers’ tennis team fell last night to St. Mary’s 1-4.  Fighting through the elements to bring in the only win was Sammie Jamison at #3 singles.  Amy Salmons and Sam Imus also had a JV win.

Girl's Soccer:
The Lady Chargers soccer team went up against the SBC leaders, Oak Harbor, last evening. The Chargers played the best game of their season. They shut down the Rockets for the first 30 minutes with a stellar defense and an aggressive offense. The first half ended with a lone goal from Oak Harbor. The Rockets managed to get an early goal in the first 10 minutes but the Chargers dug in and held their ground with strong defensive contributions from Sha Adelman and Elyse Turton along with the back four. Keeper, Addison Spriggs, made countless and remarkable saves throughout the game. The Rockets managed to put 3 goals past the out of gas Chargers in the last 12 minutes. It was senior night and the team recognized Captain Heather Johnson as she played her last game on the Edison pitch. She led the team with her gregarious and flamboyant style as usual.

Girl's Golf: STATE BOUND!!!
Wow, what a day! The girls’ golf team fired a 369 to win Districts and became the first team in the Northwest Div II to earn a state berth. Bailey Bixler led the team with an 82, Allison Soviak 89, Tori Riddle 96, Megan Reber 102. The girls head to State on Oct 9th for a practice round and the two day event will be held on Oct 10-11 in Columbus at the Ohio State Gray Course..... Good Luck Chargers!!!

The varsity volleyball team improved to 13-5 and moving into a 2nd place tie in the SBC by beating Perkins 25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 25-12.  Whitney Smith led the team with 24 points, 2 aces, 5 kills, 3 blocks, 20 assists, and 19 digs.  Emily Stewart had 14 kills and 13 digs, Cami Shine and Amanda Blodgett had 7 kills each, Carmen Tinnel had 6 kills and 3 blocks, Zoe Gastier had 5 kills, 7 blocks and 14 assists, Abbey Cox had 5 kills and 3 blocks, Nicole Swartz scored 7 points and had 8 digs, Rachel Ackerman had 13 digs, Brittany Moyer chipped in 13 assists, and Chelsea Frankboner added 6 digs.
  The JV team beat the Pirates 25-11, 22-25, 25-16.  Frankboner led the team with 12 points and 6 aces.  Elise Gastier scored 11 points while Kylene Williams and Aubrey Notestine had 6 points each.  The Freshmen team was also victorious, winning 25-9 and 25-15.  Shantel Wolfe scored 15 points and Allison Ringholz had 9 points.  The teams play at Oak Harbor on Thursday.

The JV team beat the Pirates 25-11, 22-25, 25-16.  Frankboner led the team with 12 points and 6 aces.  Elise Gastier scored 11 points while Kylene Williams and Aubrey Notestine had 6 points each.  The Freshmen team was also victorious, winning 25-9 and 25-15.  Shantel Wolfe scored 15 points and Allison Ringholz had 9 points.

JV Football:
The JV Football team beat Port Clinton last night 26-21.  Mike Kumpula threw 2 touchdown passes to Evan Lee and Nick Smith.  Matt Mironik returned a kickoff for a touchdown!

Girl's Soccer:
The Lady Chargers soccer team went out on the high seas against the Pirates last evening. The Chargers took a broadside in the early minutes of the game and struggled to maintain an even keel as they took another blast shortly afterwards putting them down 2 goals. The Chargers resurfaced when “Fish” Fisher dived through the Pirates defense to steal a goal kick to beat the keeper in a one on one battle to close the first half at 2 to 1.  A re-energized Charger team had an exciting 2nd half with a final breath stealing attack in the last 2 minutes which unfortunately ran out of powder. Come out for the senior game against Oak Harbor this Wednesday at 5 pm.

Girl's Cross Country: John Spear Invite Champions!!!
The Girls team added to their collections of championships with another 1st place team finish at the John Spear Invitational.  The girls scored 37 points which was over 40 points ahead of 2nd place.  Our top five girls all finished in the top 10 of their race.  Abbi Plunkett led the assault with 5th place and a time of 20:18.  Sarah Rospert took 7th with a 20:40, and Alyssa Robinson gutted out 8th place with a 20:51.  Remi Hoffman and Sarah Wallace packed in for 9th and 10th.  The girls B team had a good day defeating two teams:  Norwalk St. Paul and Madison.  Top finishers for the B team were Julia Danda who ran a 23:31 and Tara Poock who ran a 24:10.  Great job ladies and good luck at Legends on Saturday.

Boy's Cross Country:
The boys’ cross country team placed 2nd at the Western Reserve Invitational on Saturday-losing to New London by 8 points.  Tim Majoy finished 2nd out of 92 runners with a time of 17 flat.  Weston Strayer followed with 4th place, and Oggie Moss took 14th.  Steve Salmons broke into the 17s for the first time with a 17:58.  Bryan Nemire took 36th and Coltyn Grant finished 51st with a 19:03.  David Bender led the boys B team which beat Keystone and Black River.  The boys’ team travels to Trumbull County on Saturday to run against some of the toughest team in Northern Ohio at the Legends meet.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team had another very good weekend, placing 3rd in the Convoy Crestview Invitational.  The ladies started the day by beating St. Paul, who was ranked #3 in the state in Division 4, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23.  The team then battled the #1 ranked team in Division 4, Marion Local.  The team held a lead in game 1 and battled back from a 17-7 deficit in game 2 to take a 24-23 lead, but eventually fell 20-25 and 28-30.  The team then beat the state's #10 ranked Convoy Crestview Knights 26-24, 14-25, 25-17 to capture 3rd place.
  Emily Stewart was named to the All-Tournament team as she had 39 kills, 35 digs, and 17 points.  Cami Shine had 20 kills, 32 digs, and 14 points.  Whitney Smith scored 29 points and had 30 assists, 20 digs, 7 kills and 6 blocks.  Amanda Blodgett had 10 kills, 13 blocks, and scored 17 points.  Brittany Moyer had 34 assists; Zoe Gastier had 5 kills, 8 blocks, and 26 assists.  Carmen Tinnel had 5 kills and 11 blocks, Abbey Cox had 8 kills and 7 blocks, Nicole Swartz scored 7 points and had 12 digs, Rachel Ackerman had 13 digs, and Erica Anderson scored 3 points.  The volleyball teams take on Perkins in an important SBC match at home on Tuesday.

Boy's Golf:
The boys golf team advances to Districts by finishing 3rd at Sectionals yesterday.  Preston Robinette and Brad Meinert led the Chargers with 79’s.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team improved to 10-4 by beating Port Clinton 25-9, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15.  Emily Stewart had 15 kills and 12 digs, Amanda Blodgett scored 11 points and added 8 kills and 6 blocks at the net.  Cami Shine had 7 kills and 17 digs, Whitney Smith scored 17 points with 5 aces, and also had 6 kills and a team high 16 assists.  Brittany Moyer had 13 assists, Zoe Gastier had 2 kill, 2 blocks, and 6 assists, Carmen Tinnel had 6 kills and 4 blocks, Erica Anderson scored 6 points and had 7 digs, Nicole Swartz had 9 digs, Rachel Ackerman had 6 digs, and Abbey Cox had 2 kills and 1 block.  The girls play at the Convoy Crestview Invitational on Saturday.

Girl's Soccer:
Last evening the Lady Charger Soccer Team had a nail biter of a game against the Sandusky Blue Steaks. The Streaks opened the scoring early in the first half but the Chargers regained their composure with a strong stance from the defensive line of Cech, Allen and Zu Hone. The second half saw the mean streak of the Chargers. Elyse Turton continually pummeled the Streak attackers as they entered the mid-field. Heather Johnson broke up an attacking pass and blasted a through ball to Fischer who streaked in for the tying goal. Addison Spriggs had slipped into her Super Women suit and stopped 3 break-a-ways to seal the game at 1 to 1.

Girl's Golf:
The girls golf team improved their record in the SBC to 10-2; Overall to 14-2. Yesterday’s score was Edison 167- Margaretta 212. Bailey Bixler had her first eagle on the par five fifth to lead Edison with a 38, Allison Soviak carded a 41, and Stephanie Mollohan 43 and Megan Reber and Tori Riddle chipped in a pair of 45's. The girls are on the road for Districts next week in Findlay, Good Luck, charging for a State berth.

Girl's Tennis:
The Lady Charger tennis team beat Oak Harbor last night 3-2.  Winning for the Chargers was Rachel Reilly at #2 singles,  Sammie Jamison and Amy Salmons at #2 doubles and Ashley Elber at #3 singles who had a clean sweep of 6-0, 6-0.  Way to go ladies!

Girl's Golf: Sectional Champions!!!
Yesterday, the girls golf team came out on top at sectionals with a first place finish with a team total 359. Megan Reber was overall medalist with an 83,  Bailey Bixler overall runner-up 84, Allison Soviak 90, Stephanie Mollohan 102.  The girl's head to districts at Scyamore Springs in Findlay on Tuesday. Good Luck, Chargers!

The varsity volleyball team lost to Huron 25-19, 19-25, 13-25, 16-25.  Emily Stewart had 19 kills and 10 digs, Cami Shine had 9 kills and 10 digs, Whitney Smith scored 13 points, 4 aces, and 10 assists.  Brittany Moyer had 16 assists, Zoe Gastier slammed 3 kills and had 6 assists, and Erica Anderson had 5 points and 5 digs.   The teams play at Port Clinton on Thursday.          

JV/Freshmen Volleyball:
The JV team fell to Huron 28-26, 24-26, 7-25.  Abbey Cox and Caitlyn Roberts scored 9 points each, and Chelsea Frankboner had 8 points.  The freshman team won in two games 25-18 and 25-17.  Allison Ringholz scord 9 points and Sarah Holler had 6 points. 

Boy's Soccer:
Sam Bores tallied two second half goals for the Edison Chargers Varsity soccer team at Huron Tuesday night. The first goal came off a free kick and the second on a penalty kick after Scott McGuckin was taken down in the penalty area. The Chargers fell down by three goals in the first half, but fought back in the second only to come up short 4-2. Dan Imus provided strong goal keeping in the second half and Jake Kiley spearheaded the defensive effort for the Chargers.

Girl's Tennis:
The Lady Charger tennis team fell last night to Perkins 0-5.  They are back in action tonight at Oak Harbor and looking for another SBC win.

Girl's Golf:
Last night the girls’ golf team won against Oak Harbor at Thunderbird South Edison 184 vs Oak Harbor 210. The team was led by Bailey Bixler 41, Stephanie Mollohan 45, Allison Soviak 48, Tori Riddle 49, Megan Reber 49. The win brings their SBC record to 9-2 and overall 13-2, for the season. Good luck to the girls today at sectionals at Valley View in Galion.

Girl's Soccer:
Last evening the Lady Charger Soccer Team played the Huron Tigers. The game was an end to end battle. The defense for both teams dug in and shut the offense down. The Chargers came close with an intense attack close to end of the first half as Elyse Turton penetrated the Tiger defense and fed the ball back to Cooper whose long shot just went over the Tiger Cage. The 2nd half saw more attacks by the Chargers. The game ended with an exciting free kick at the Tiger goal by Heather Johnson but was cleared by the defense. The game ended in a 0:0 draw with Addison Spriggs securing yet another shut out. The Chargers play Sandusky this Wednesday at 5pm. Come out and support your Chargers.

Girl's Tennis:
The Lady Charger tennis team fell last night to Port Clinton 4-1.  Bringing in the only varsity win was Ashley Elber at #3 singles.  Sam Imus and Hannah Burras also brought in a JV win.  Tonight the Chargers face Perkins at home.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team had an outstanding weekend, winning the Springfield Golden Spike tournament.  The team beat Oregon Clay 25-19, 25-19 and Springfield 25-22, 25-21, placing the team in  the finals against undefeated and state ranked Newark Catholic.  The Lady Chargers took down #4 ranked Green Wave in 3 games 25-22, 23-25, and 25-19.  Emily Stewart led the team with 30 kills and 27 digs, and was named to the all tournament team.  Cami Shine had 22 kills, 23 digs, and 20 points, Whitney Smith had 10 kills, 8 blocks, 22 points, 4 aces, and 26 assists.  Amanda Blodgett had 14 kills and 15 blocks, Brittany Moyer had 32 assists and 15 digs, Carmen Tinnel had 7 kills and 8 blocks, Zoe Gastier had 3 kills and 15 assists, Erica Anderson had 12 points and 9 digs, Rachel Ackerman had digs, Nicole Swartz scored 3 points, and Abbey Cox had 4 kills and 1 block. The team plays a big SBC match at home on Tuesday against Huron.

JV Football:
The JV football team lost to Huron on Saturday 19-14.  Touchdowns were scored by Jake Parkinson and a Mike Kumpula to Evan Lee pass.  Good effort guys!

Freshmen Football:
The freshmen football team played a strong second half on defense against the Tigers not allowing any additional points.  Offensively the team was able to move the ball but struggled to get any points on the board losing 20-0.  The team is now 1-4 on the season.

Boy's Soccer:
Senior Luke McCoy scored a goal 24 seconds into the second half to ignite a dramatic rally for the Edison Chargers Boys’ Varsity soccer team. Down 3-0 at the half, the Chargers responded with 3 of their own in the second half. McCoy followed his quick tally with another goal later in the half. Freshmen Mitch Unger secured the third goal with a skilled redirection of a bouncing ball. Dan Imus led the defensive effort for Edison with Logan Francisco adding key saves in goal.  Score ended Chargers 3 – Crestview 3.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team won an exciting match against Clyde 21-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-20, 15-7 to improve to 6-2 in the SBC and 6-3 overall.  Cami Shine had 16 kills, while Emily Stewart and Amanda Blodgett had 10 kills each.  Whitney Smith scored 16 points with 4 aces, led the team with 20 assists, and also had 3 blocks and 5 kills.  Carmen Tinnel had 7 kills and 12 blocks, Zoe Gastier contributed 3 kills and 8 blocks and 13 assists, Brittany Moyer scored 10 points and had 18 assists, Rachel Ackerman had 5 digs, and Chelsea Frankboner had 1 kill. JV/Freshmen Volleyball:
The JV and Freshmen volleyball teams both played well, each beating the Fliers in 2 games.

Girl's Tennis:
Yesterday the Lady Chargers tennis team played great at the SBC Tournament.  Both of Edison’s doubles teams won in the first round and then faced still competition in the second round.  Rachel Reilly and Amanda Wroblewski beat Oak Harbor in two sets and were defeated by Clyde in a close match.  Mallory Kiley and Danielle Rasey played a 3 hour, 3 set match to defeat St. Mary’s, then fell to Port Clinton.  Nice job ladies.

Boy's Soccer:
The Edison Chargers Boys Varsity soccer team put up a strong offensive effort at Clyde on Thursday, but lost 2-1. The Chargers dominated possession, but could only get a late goal from Sam Bores. The team pressed hard in the last few minutes, narrowly missing a goal off a free kick, but could not find the equalizing goal.

Girl's Golf:
Last night on the road at Sleepy Hollow the girl's golf team won, Edison 179 vs Margaretta 208. The team was led by Bailey Bixler 41, Tori Riddle 44, Stephanie Mollhan 46, Megan Reber 46.

Boy's Golf: SBC CHAMPIONS!!!
The boy’s golf team has won the SBC conference.  Edison shoots 162 to beat Port Clinton.  Preston Robinette and Jake Whitehouse had 39’s to lead the Chargers.  Brad Meinert had a 41 and Mike Zakerski a 43.  Congrats on your back to back SBC titles seniors!!  The JV golfers end the season at 8-5.  Ben Spacek led the Chargers with a 47.  Congrats JV’s on a winning season!

Girl's Golf:
Last night the girl's golf team set a new school record, Edison 164 to Perkin's 188 to bring our overall record to 10-2; SBC record 7-2.  The team top four was led by Jr. Bailey Bixler 37, Sr. Allison Soviak 40, Soph. Stephanie Mollohan 42, Soph. Megan Reber 45 and Soph. Tori Riddle 47, Sr. Megan Thompson 49.  Tonight, the girls are on the road to face Margaretta. Good Luck, Chargers.

Girl's Soccer:
Last night the Lady Chargers’ soccer team shot down the Clyde Fliers 4 to 0.  Fish Fisher hooked the first goal as she slammed a pass from Heather Johnson through the keeper’s legs.  In the ending minutes of the first half Coop Cooper fed a pass to Michelle Johnson who danced her way through the Flier defense and blew the ball into the back of the net. With one minute left in the half and Johnson’s dancing slippers still hot she finalized a combination passing play from Elyse Turton and Coop to put the Chargers up by 3.  The 2nd half opened up with a lightening strike by Coop from a through ball from Heather Johnson. The Charger defense then secured the win as they clipped the Fliers’ wings with Addison Spriggs collecting her 2nd shutout.  

Girl's Tennis:
Last night the Lady Charger’s tennis team fell to Clyde 1-4.  Bringing in the only varsity win was Sammie Jamison at #3 singles, winning 6-4, 6-2.  Ashley Pfeiffer and Alyssa Ott also brought in a JV win.  Today the varsity girls will participate in the SBC tournament at Perkins High School.  Good luck ladies.

Girl's Cross Country: Erie County Champions!!!
The girls cross team continued their winning streak by capturing the Erie County Championship for the first time.  The girls defeated 2nd place Sandusky by 36 points and placed four runners in the top 10. Sarah Rospert took 2nd barely edging out Alyssa Robinson who followed with 3rd.  Abbi Plunkett dropped 9 seconds from last week to finish 4th, and Sarah Wallace improved by 8 seconds to take 9th.  Casey Flannery ran a great race and dropped 18 seconds, and Lauren Dunnavant improved by an impressive 41 seconds.  The following girls all improved from their previous week’s performance:  Julia Danda, Ginny Field, Mariah Wolfe, Beth Stallkamp, Brandi Heidl, Taylor Poock, and Tasha Cromwell.  Congratulations ladies on your first Erie County Championship!!!

Boy's Cross Country:
The boys cross team competed in the Erie County Meet yesterday and placed second to Vermilion by only 5 points.  Tim Majoy placed 5th and Weston Strayer followed with 6th.  Oggie Moss improved by 3 seconds to take 12th, and Steve Salmons improved by 16 seconds to take 13th. Tyler Matter dropped 38 seconds and Lucas Neumeyer dropped 8 seconds. Cam Michel improved by 10 seconds and Ben Fagginato dropped over 20 seconds.  Great job guys!!!

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team improved to 5-3 and 5-2 in the SBC by beating St. Mary's 25-11, 25-12, 25-10.  Emily Stewart was 26 of 27 spiking with 16 kills, Cami Shine was 13 of 14 spiking with 7 kills, Whitney Smith had 5 kills, while Abbey Cox, Zoe Gastier, and Amanda Blodgett had 4 kills each.  Blodgett led the team with 12 points and 4 aces, and Smith had 9 points and 5 aces.  Shine had 17 digs, Smith had 14 assists, Gastier had 7 assists, and Brittany Moyer had 16 assists and 6 points.  Rachel Ackerman scored 4 points and Nicole Swartz had 3 points.

JV/Freshmen Volleyball:
The JV team won the JV match 25-12, 25-14.  Aubrey Notestine, Chelsea Frankboner, and Elise Gastier scored 7 points each.  Cailtlyn Roberts contributed 6 points.  The freshmen lost a tough 3 game match to the Panthers.  Nicole Codeluppi had 17 points and Sarah Holler scored 8.  All 3 teams play Clyde at home on Thursday.

Girl's Tennis:
Last night the Lady Charger’s tennis team was in action against St. Mary’s.  All of the girls played amazing matches bringing the overall score to a close 2-3 loss.  Earning the two varsity wins was Sammie Jamison at #3 singles and Mallory Kiley and Danielle Rasey at the #2 doubles.  Sam Imus and Amy Salmons also brought in a JV win.  Way to go ladies!!  The Chargers are back in action at home again tonight against Clyde.

Boy's Golf:
The Varsity boys golf team beat Clyde 153-172 yesterday.  Brad Meinert led the Chargers with a 1 under 35.  Mike Zakerski had a 37 while Jake Whitehouse shot a 40.  Preston Robinette and Pat Shine both had 41s.  The JV’s also beat Clyde 189-195.  Alan Rock had a 40 to lead the JVs to victory.

Girl's Golf:
Edison 177 vs. Pt Clinton 223. The lady chargers golf team improved their record to 5-2 in the SBC and 9-2 overall, The team was led by a pair of 42's Allison Soviak and Bailey Bixler .Megan Thompson 46, and Megan Reber 47. The JV’s had their first match and came out on top with a 209 to Pt Clinton 290. The JV team was led by Jenny Short 48 and Megan McClellan 50, and Jenny Smith 55, Jessika Otto 55 and Michelle Tamburo close by with her personal best 56. The girls will face PERKINS on the South Wed night.

Varsity Football:
The varsity football team lost to Clyde Friday night in the SBC opener by a score of 40-7.  The loss drops the team’s record to 3-1 on the season.  The night began promising as the Chargers took the opening kick off and drove for a touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead.  However, several other drives fell short and the defense was unable to make stops when needed.  The team is in action again this Friday on the road against the Huron Tigers.

JV Football:
The JV football team lost to Clyde 12-8 Saturday morning.  The lone touchdown came when Mike Kumpula hit Evan Lee for a 30 yard pass to the end zone.  Good job guys!

Freshmen Football:
The team lost to Clyde on Saturday 30-8. The team plays Huron this Saturday at home. Kickoff is at 9:00 a.m.

Girl's Cross Country: Galion Invite Champions!!!
The girls’ cross country team continues to impress as they brought home their first ever Galion Invitational championship.  The girls placed 1st out of 27 teams and beat second place Rocky River by 50 points.  The girls put up impressive times and places in stifling humidity led by Abbi Plunkett and Sarah Rospert who finished 7th and 8th out of 183 runners.  Alyssa Robinson took 11th with a time of 20:39.  Remi Hoffman and Casey Flannery sealed the deal by placing an impressive 25th and 31st adding up the team score to 82 points.  Sarah Wallace finished 6th for the team and Lauren Dunnavant took 7th.  Outstanding performance ladies!!  Now onto the Erie County meet on Tuesday – Good Luck!!

Boy's Cross Country:
The boys’ cross county team competed at the Galion Invitational Saturday and placed 9th out of 33 teams.  Tim Majoy led the team finishing 17th with a time of 17:24.  Wes Strayer followed with 19th place and a time of 17:29.  Oggie Moss and Coltyn Grant took 73rd and 75th place running in the 18:40’s.  Cory Vanderbaan had an outstanding day finishing 5th for the team with a time of 19:03.  Bryan Nemire and Steve Salmons finished 130th and 131st.  Tyler Matter stepped up and had the only personal record of the team running his best time of 21:28.  The teams travel to Osborn Park to compete at the Erie County meet on Tuesday – Good Luck!!

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team defeated Margaretta last night 25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21.  Emily Stewart had 15 kills, 11 points, and 16 digs.  Cami Shine slammed 10 kills and scored 13 points.  Brittany Moyer scored 13 points and had 17 assists.  Whitney Smith had 4 kills, 8 points, 5 aces, 11 assists, 4 blocks, and 6 digs.  Amanda Blodgett had 6 kills and 4 blocks, Zoe Gastier had 3 kills, 6 blocks, and 6 assists.  Abbey Cox had 3 kills and 6 blocks, and Erica Anderson scored 7 points and had 6 digs.

JV/Freshmen Volleyball:
The JV team beat the Polar Bears 25-19 and 25-22.  The freshmen dropped their first match of the season by falling in two games.

Boy's Soccer:
Senior Luke McCoy’s two goals helped spark the Edison Boys’ Varsity soccer team to a 5-0 win over Margaretta. Sam Bores, Jeremy Moss and Luke Pierce also found the net for the Chargers. Logan Francisco secured a shut-out in goal; needing to make only one save on the afternoon.

Boy's Golf:
On Tuesday, the boys’ golf team beat Huron 156-162!  Mike Zakerski led the Chargers with a 37 followed by Preston Robinette with a 38.  Brad Meinert had a 39 and Braden Bixler had a 42.  The JV’s also beat Huron 197-202.  Alan Rock had a 47 to lead the Chargers.

Girl's Soccer:
The Girls’ soccer team lost to the Margaretta Bears last night. The Chargers generated multiple scoring drives but could not find the back of the net. The game ended 4 to 0 for the Bears. The Chargers head to Firelands on Saturday.

Girl's Tennis:
The Charger Tennis Team lost last night to Huron 0-5.  All of the varsity girls played great matches but they were unable to get a win.  JV Tennis played great last night as well bringing in 3 wins: Becky Witter won her first singles match, Tia Coble and Hannah Burras won their doubles match, and Demey Deloach and Taylor Billman got their first win of their career.  Way to go ladies!

Girl's Cross Country:
The girls’ cross country team continued their success yesterday easily defeating the St. Mary’s Panthers 17 to 45. Sarah Rospert led the 2 mile race with a 12:21 and a first place finish.  Alyssa Robinson followed with second and Abbi Plunkett took 3rd.  Sarah Wallace finished 5th, Casey Flannery took 6th and Remi Hoffman placed 7th.  The ladies travel to Galion on Saturday.

Boy's Cross Country:
The Boys’ cross country team silenced the St. Mary’s Panthers by defeating them head to head with the score of 25 to 34.  Tim Majoy took first place again beating Brian Ferber with a 2 mile time of 10:24.  Weston Strayer placed 3rd, and Oggie Moss took 4th.  Steve Salmons, Coltyn Grant, Brian Nemire, and Cory Vanderbaan finished 7th through 10th.  This pack placed our top 7 runners in front of their 4th runner.  Nice job guys!!! Good Luck at Galion on Saturday.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team improved to 3-3 with a 25-13, 25-7, 25-18 victory over Oak Harbor.  Cami Shine and Emily Stewart had 8 kills each.  Abbey Cox had 6 kills and Amanda Blodgett had 5 kills.  Shine led the team with 11 digs, Whitney Smith had 9 digs, and Erica Anderson chipped in 8 digs.  Brittany Moyer had 14 assists, while Smith and Zoe Gastier had 11 assists each.  Shine scored 14 points and Anderson had 10 points.

JV Volleyball:
The JV team improved to 4-2 by beating the Rockets 25-14, 26-24.  The girls are back in action Thursday at Margaretta.

Boy's Soccer:
The Chargers Boys Varsity soccer team played a close match at Oak Harbor, but came up short on goals for a 3-0 defeat. Sam Bores made 13 saves and Logan Francisco 2. The Chargers did generate some offensive attack, but could not find the net. The Chargers host Margaretta on Thursday.

Varsity Football:
The varsity football team shocked the Wellington Dukes last Friday night by scoring 20 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to beat the Dukes 27-26.  The team showed great poise and determination as they overcame their own mistakes and capitalized on Wellington miscues to improve their record to 3-0 on the season.  In a true “team” effort the Chargers scored 3 times in the final 8 minutes to secure the win.  Key plays in the comeback were turned in by a variety of players – with 8:49 to play, the defense forced a punt that resulted in a bad snap…one play later Dylan Howard bolts in for the first of three 4th quarter TDs; after the defense forces a punt, Zach Yovanov throws a strike to Jimmie Beres who runs it in from 80 yards to bring the Chargers within 6 points; and finally on fourth and 2 the Dukes try a fake punt that is crushed by Kyle Matula and the Chargers defense, which sets up a short field.  With 58 seconds remaining in the game, Dylan Howard scores his 3rd TD of the game to tie the score at 26.  Jon Suhanic then knocked the extra point through to give the Chargers the win.  As is with any victory there were many outstanding performances on both sides of the ball.  On defense, Craig Ritz led the team with 15 tackles and 5 assists and on offense, Zach Yovanov completed 15 of 22 passes for 185 yards and 1 TD.  The team would like to thank all those who supported them through the game last Friday and is looking forward to your continued support this Friday in Clyde!

Freshmen Football:
The freshmen football team beat St. Mary’s on Saturday 20-8.  The team did an excellent job controlling the line of scrimmage and continues to improve each week.  The team is now 1-2 on the season and faces the Clyde Fliers at home this weekend.

Boy's Cross Country:
The boys cross country team competed at the Tiffin Carnival on Saturday and placed 18th out of 52 teams from all over the Midwest.  Tim Majoy led the team with his best ever time of 16:47 and 30th place.  Weston Strayer also ran his best time of 16:53 and placed 36th out of over 350 runners.  Oggie Moss finished 97th with a 17:41.  Bryan Nemire ran his season’s best time of 18:20.  Steve Salmons followed with a best time of 18:26.  Coltyn Grant ran a great time of 18:42, followed by Cory Vanderbaan who ran a 19:37.  Kevin Knight stepped up to finish with an impressive 19:36. David Bender improved by over 45 seconds, Cam Michel dropped over a minute, and Ben Fagginato improved by over 2 minutes.  Great job guys—now get ready for Tuesday’s meet against the defending conference champions—the St. Mary’s Panthers.

Girl's Cross Country:
The girls’ cross country team made a name for themselves at the Tiffin Carnival this weekend. The Charger ladies finished an impressive 8th out of 40 division II and III schools from all over the state.  The girls improved by 8 places from their 2007 performance and the next best SBC team was Oak Harbor who finished 23rd.  Sarah Rospert finished 24th out of 268 runners with a season’s best time of 19:58.  Alyssa Robinson took 26th with her best time of 20 flat.  Abbi Plunkett followed with 27th and a 20:01.  Remi Hoffman had a great day with her career best time of 20:56.  Sarah Wallace finished with a 21:24 and Casey Flannery stepped up with her career best time of 21:32.  Lauren Dunnavant ran her season’s best time of 22:28.  The Varsity B Team placed 25th in their race defeating Norwalk’s A team and 6 other Division II schools.  The following girls dropped over a minute off of their time:  Tiffany Williams, Stacey Janik, Tara Poock, Rachel Wallace, Morgan Flannery, Ginny Field, and Mariah Wolfe. Great Job Ladies!

Girl's Soccer:
The Lady Chargers Soccer lost to Open Door on Saturday. After falling behind in the first half 4 to nothing, the Chargers re-grouped and made an offensive push in the 2nd half. Keeper Addison Spriggs sparked the Chargers with a Penalty Kick save. Shortly after, the Chargers were awarded a free kick at Open Door’s 25 yard mark. Heather Johnson smashed the ball into the net for the Charger’s goal. The Chargers play at Oak Harbor today.

The boys golf team lost to St. Mary last night 159-151.  Jake Whitehouse had a 37 to lead the Chargers followed by Preston Robinette’s 39.  Pat Shine had a 40.  Brad Meinert had a 42.  The JV’s also lost 202-189.  Grant Coleman led the JV’s with a 47.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team lost a tough 5 game battle with Perkins 26-24, 15-25, 17-25, 26-24, 13-15.  Whitney Smith scored 11 points, had 6 kills, 5 blocks, 10 assists, and 12 digs.  Cami Shine had 8 kills and 20 digs, Amanda Blodgett scored 7 points and 2 aces to go along with 7 kills and 4 blocks.  Zoe Gastier had 5 points, 4 kills, 3 blocks, and 12 assists, Carmen Tinnel had 4 kills and 4 blocks, Brittany Moyer had 19 assists, Nicole Swartz had 10 digs, and Abbey Cox had 7 kills and 2 blocks.  The JV team dropped their first SBC match of the season by losing a close 3 set match.  The JV's are now 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the SBC.  The freshmen team remained undefeated by beated the Pirates in 2 games.  The JV and varsity play Oak Harbor at home on Tuesday.

Girl's Golf:
The girls golf team improved their record this week to
7-1 overall by wins over Vermilion and Shelby. Edison 178-Vermilion 240.  The team was led by Bailey Bixler 43 and Megan Reber 43 and Allison Soviak 45 and Tori Riddle 47. Then the match against Shelby  - Edison 175- Shelby-194  Bailey Bixler's shot even par 36 to lead the team... and Megan Reber fired a 43 and Allison Soviak 45 and Rebecca Otto and Tori Riddle tied at 51.

Boy's Soccer:
The Chargers’ Boys varsity soccer team lost a tight match to Perkins 2-0. The Chargers played solid defense and got some important saves from Goalie Sam Bores, but still gave up 1 goal in each half. The Chargers struggled to generate much offense, but Jake Kiley and Scott McGuckin put in strong efforts for Edison.

Girl's Tennis:
The Charger Tennis Team lost last night to a strong Perkins team 0-5.  Sammie Jamison fought hard into a third set but was unable to bring in a win.  Alyssa Ott and Ashley Pfeiffer brought in the only JV win of the night, way to go ladies!

Girl's Soccer:
The Lady Charger's soccer team lost a close game last night against Perkins 1-0.  The Chargers midfielders Katelyn Fischer and Elyse Turton kept the pressure on the Pirates both defensively and offensively.  Kat ZuHone had a strong performance at full back for the Chargers.  Their next game is against Open Door this Saturday.

The varsity volleyball team improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the SBC by beating Port Clinton 25-9, 26-24, 25-14.  Brittany Moyer led the way with 14 points and 16 assists, while Whitney Smith scored 13 points and also had 13 assists, 3 kills, and 2 blocks.  Cami Shine scored 10 points and had 5 kills, Amanda Blodgett scored 4 points, had 7 kills and 6 blocks.  Emily Stewart had 7 kills, Zoe Gastier had 7 assists and 4 blocks, Abbey Cox had 2 kills and 3 blocks, and Carmen Tinnel had 3 blocks.
  The JV team remained undefeated with a 25-14, 25-13 win over the Redskins.  Elise Gastier scored 13 points and Caitlyn Roberts had 9 points.  The volleyball teams travel to Perkins on Thursday.

Boy's Golf:
The boys golf team beat Oak Harbor yesterday 150-168.  Brad Meinert shot a career low 2 under 34 to lead the Chargers.  Preston Robinette had a 36, Jake Whitehouse a 39, Pat Shine and Braden Bixler shot 41s.  The JV’s also defeated Oak Harbor 189-212.  Grant Coleman led the JV’s with a 43.

The boys’ soccer team lost to Port Clinton 6-3.  The team got the first goal of the game on the road at Port Clinton.  The Redskins followed with 4 goals of their own and went on to beat the Chargers.  Edison got goals from Luke McCoy, Luke Pierce, and Jeremy Moss.

Varsity Football:
The Varsity Football team defeated Monroeville last Friday night by a score of 21-14.  After a slow start the Chargers took control midway through the second quarter.  Dylan Howard and Zach Yovanov led the Charger rushing attack, each running for over 100 yards.  Brady Gelvin made a spectacular one-handed touchdown catch in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.  The defense came up with a key goal line stand in the first quarter to set the tone for the rest of the game.  The defensive line made up of Ryan Gorsuch, Kyle Cory, Eric Boyce, Josh Gebelle and Chris Roberts made it tough for the Eagles to run the ball.  Linebackers Craig Ritz and Kyle Matula and the secondary of Ryan Neuberger, Brandon Tomson, Ryan Tiura and Alias Freeman held the Eagles to 11 completions out of 31 attempts and well under 100 yards.  With the win the Chargers are now 2-0 on the season and are working hard to make it three straight as they host Wellington this Friday night!

JV Football:
The JV football team beat Monroeville Saturday morning 32-7.  It was a great team effort!

Freshmen Football:
The freshman football team showed a strong effort on Saturday but lost to Margaretta 22-12.  The defense played strong in the second half not allowing any additional points.  The team travels to Sandusky next Saturday to play the Panthers.

Girl's Soccer:
Last Thursday the Lady Chargers Soccer team earned their second win of the week beating the Huron Tigers 4 to 1. Samantha Seiling opened the scoring for the Chargers off a pass from Heather Johnson. Emma Stevens broke up a breakout attempt by the Tigers in front of their net and fed the ball to Cassie Williams whose shot on goal was deflected off the keeper and was pounced upon by Elyse Turton to put the Chargers up by 2 goals. The Tigers scored late in the 1st half but the Chargers maintained their momentum into the 2nd half. Heather Johnson sent a free kick in front of the Huron goal to Michelle Johnston whose shot squeezed through the keeper and was finished by Cassie Cooper. With 23 seconds left in the game the Chargers were awarded a corner kick. Heather Johnson delivered the ball into goal box where Stephanie Barnett directed it to Samantha Seiling for her 2nd goal of the game.  The Chargers are now 2-1-1.

The varsity volleyball team dropped to 1-2 with a 25-23, 25-28, 25-15 loss at Huron.  Emily Stewart had 12 kills, 15 digs, and 4 points, Cami Shine had 6 kills and 4 points, Amanda Blodgett had 6 kills, 4 blocks, and 4 points, Whitney Smith had 4 kills and 6 assists, Brittany Moyer had 16 assists, and Zoe Gastier had 1 kills and 8 assists.

The JV and Freshmen teams both claimed 2 game victories over the Tigers.  The JV's improved their record to 2-1, while the Freshmen improve to 2-0.  The JV and Varsity play Port Clinton at home on Tuesday.

Boy's Soccer:
The Chargers Boys’ Soccer played Huron to a scoreless first half. A strong second half start resulted in 5 early goals for Huron. The last 30 minutes of the game were played with each team scoring a goal. Freshman Luke Pierce scored the Chargers goal.

The Lady Charger's Tennis Team was unable to come up with a win last night against Huron High School.  Taylor Stoll came up short at #1 singles 0-6, 0-6 as did Ashley Elber at #2 singles with a score of 1-6, 1-6 and Sammie Jamison at #3 singles with a score of 3-6, 2-6.  While the doubles teams played well, they too were unable to bring home a win.  Amanda Wroblewski and Rachel Reilly fell short with a score of 4-6, 3-6 and Mallory Kiley and Danielle Rasey lost 2-6, 4-6.  Amy Salmons brought in a JV singles win and Alyssa Ott and Ashley Pfeiffer won at JV doubles.  The ladies are back in action next Tuesday at home.

Girl's Golf:
Girls Golf team improved their record to 6-1 by a win over Norwalk and Perrysburg a Div 1 school last night. The team was led by the Sophmore's Tori Riddle had her personal best with a 43, and Megan Reber tied her with a 43,  Bailey Bixler 45, Stephanie Mollohan 47, and Jen Short 47.  Edison 178 to Perrysburg 180 and Norwalk 231.  The girls face Vermilion and Shelby next week.

Boy's Golf:
The Charger boys golf team defeated Perkins 162-165.  Preston Robinette led the varsity with a 38 followed by Jake Whitehouse’s 40.  Brad Meinert shot a 41 and Pat Shine a 43.  The JV golf team lost to Perkins 203-196.  Grant Coleman and Nate Wilhelm had 49’s to lead the JV’s.

Girl's Tennis:
The Lady Charger's Tennis Team was unable to come up with a win last night against Clyde High School.  Taylor Stoll came up short at #1 singles 0-6, 1-6 as did Ashley Elber at #2 singles with a score of 1-6, 0-6.  Sammie Jamison was fighting hard for a win when her match was called due to rain leaving her with the score of 7-5, 2-6, 1-1.  While the doubles teams played well they too were unable to bring home a win.  Amanda Wroblewski and Rachel Reilly fell short with a score of 2-6, 2-6 and Mallory Kiley and Danielle Rasey lost 1-6, 2-6.    The ladies are back in action tonight at Huron and ready for a win!  Let's go ladies!

Girl's Tennis:
Edison Girl's Tennis Team defeated Oak Harbor tonight!  It is the team’s first SBC win in several years (and we are EXCITED!).  1st Singles: Taylor Stoll (11) Defeated Kristina Blatt (11) 6-4, 7-5

2nd Singles: Ashley Elber (12) Fell to Julia Konieczny (10) 4-6, 2-6

3rd Singles: Sammie Jamison (10) Defeated Katie Mehlow (10) 3-6, 6-2, 6-3

1st Doubles: Rachel Reilly (12) and Amanda Wroblewski (11) Defeated Hannah Sigurdson (11) and Emily Macko (11) 6-4, 6-3

2nd Doubles: Mallory Kiley (10) and Danielle Rasey (10) Fell to Abby Lopez (11) and Julia Sharlow (12) 5-7, 3-6.  Hannah Burras and Amy Salmons also brought in a JV win!  All the Edison girls had amazing matches tonight!   Tonights match brought Edison to a 3-2 record so far this year and they are 1-0 in the SBC.   The match was home at Edison Park.   Our next match is 8-27 at Clyde.

Varsity Volleyball:
The varsity volleyball team improved to 1-1 by beating Clyde 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-19.  Cami Shine scored 15 points and had 8 kills, Amanda Blodgett scored 11 points, had 4 kills and 6 blocks, Emily Stewart had 8 points and 15 kills, Whitney Smith had 5 kills, 2 aces, and 11 assists, Zoe Gastier had 6 kills, 5 blocks, and 6 assists, Carmen Tinnel Smashed 6 kills and had 7 blocks, and Brittany Moyer added 19 assists.
  Both the JV and freshman teams won exciting 3 game matches.  The JV team won game 1 and fell in game 2 before storming back to win game 3.  The freshmen team lost a close 1st game but then recovered to win games 2 and 3.  The JV team is 1-1, while the freshmen team is 1-0.  All teams are back in action at Huron on Thursday.

JV/Freshmen Volleyball:
Both the JV and freshman teams won exciting 3 game matches.  The JV team won game 1 and fell in game 2 before storming back to win game 3.  The Freshmen team lost a close 1st game but then recovered to win games 2 and 3.  The JV team is 1-1, while the Freshmen team is 1-0.
All teams are back in action at Huron on Thursday.

Girl's Cross Country:
The girls cross country team defeated the 2007 state qualifying Huron tigers by sweeping 6 of the top 7 places.  Sarah Rospert ran a 20:21 which placed 1st overall.   Alyssa Robinson followed with 2nd place and a time of 20:56.  Abbi Plunkett took 3rd with a 21 flat.  Casey Flannery stepped up placing 5th with a time of 22:24 followed by Remi Hoffman who took 6th.  Lauren Dunnavant and Julia Danda made their debut finishing 6th and 7th place for the team.  Great job ladies on a great start to the 2008 season. 

Boy's Cross Country:
The boys cross country team opened their 2008 season with a win over the Huron Tigers.  The Chargers swept the top 4 places led by Tim Majoy who placed 1st with a time of 17:23.  Wes Strayer followed with second place in a time of 17:35.  Oggie Moss ran an 18:17 to take 3rd followed by Bryan Nemire who placed 4th.  Steve Salmons finished 7th.  Coltyn Grant took 9th and Cory Vander Baan rounded out the top ten with a time of 20:19.  Outstanding start to the season guys--get ready for Tiffin next Saturday.

Boy's Soccer:
The Edison Charger boys’ soccer team earned a 0-0 draw against Clyde.  The Chargers dominated play, out shooting Clyde 20-9.  Several shots by the Chargers bounced off the goal post and an early volley by Scott McGuckin sailed just over the cross bar.  Senior Dan Imus led a strong defensive effort with Sam Bores recording 4 saves in goal.  Logan Francisco finished the game in goal with 1 save as Sam Bores was pushed forward to help the Chargers try to find the winning goal.

Girl's Soccer:
Yesterday the Lady Chargers soccer team beat Clyde 3-0 in their first win of the season.  Kassie Cooper opened the scoring up with a pass from Cassie Williams who stripped the ball from the Clyde defense to set up Kassie Cooper for the goal.  Shortly before half-time Heather Johnson set up a mid-field attack and found Michelle Johnson deep in the defense zone who then fed the ball off to Kelly Allen who finished with the Chargers 2nd goal.  In the second half, Emma Stevens connected with Cooper who sent a pass in front of Clyde’s goal for Michelle Johnston to put it into the back of the net.  Keeper Addison Spriggs chalked up her first shut out of the season.  The Lady Chargers play Huron this Thursday at 5:00 at home.  Come out and support your Lady’s soccer team!

Girl's Golf:
The Edison girls’ golf team won yesterday scoring Edison 192 – Oak Harbor 216.  This brings Edison’s win record to 4-1 in the SBC.  The team was led by Bailey Bixler’s 43 and Megan Reber with a 46.  Stephanie Mollohan shot a 50 and Tori Riddle a 53.  The girls played well in tough windy conditions.

Varsity Football:
The varsity football team started the season last Friday night with a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Norwalk.  With 58 seconds left in the game the Chargers scored a touchdown to pull within 1 point of the Truckers and then Brady Gelvin scored a 2 point conversion to give the Chargers the lead at 37-36.  The Chargers racked up 365 yards of offense lead by Dylan Howards’ 165 yards rushing.  The defense was lead by Craig Ritz and Ryan Neuberger and got a huge boost from sophomore Brandon Tomson’s 35 yard touchdown return of a fumble.  The team would like to thank the fans for their support last Friday.  The varsity team is in action again this Friday as they host the Monroeville Eagles.

Girl's Soccer:
Last Thursday the girls’ soccer team tied Admiral King 1-1.  The Chargers goal was scored by Katelyn Fischer and assisted by Kassie Cooper and Heather Johnson.  The Chargers play Clyde today at 5:00 here at Edison.  Come out and support Girls Soccer!

The varsity volleyball team lost a hard fought match to defending state champions Lima Central Catholic 14-25, 25-12, 14-25, 17-25.  Cami Shine had 9 points, 7 kills, and 7 digs; Emily Stewart had 7 kills, 4 blocks, and 9 digs; Amanda Blodgett had 4 kills and 6 blocks, Brittany Moyer had 12 assists; Whitney Smith had 9 assists; Zoe Gastier chipped in 4 kills and had 5 blocks, and Carmen Tinnel had 4 blocks.

JV Volleyball:
The JV team lost a close 3 game match to the Thunderbirds.  The team lost a close first game, then stormed back to win the second game before falling in game 3.

Freshmen Football:
The freshman football team lost their home opener over the weekend 28-6 to a tough Norwalk Trucker team.  The team has been working hard over the summer months adjusting to a much faster approach to the game.  This coming weekend the team will travel to Margaretta to take on the Polar Bears for an SBC match-up.  Good luck and keep up the hard work!
